Description
Harbor City International School (harborcityschool.org) is seeking a Licensed School Nurse to oversee school health services and ensure that all health services comply with Federal and State laws and standards. The nurse reviews and creates health plans and provides oversight Health Aide paraprofessional for care of sick and injured students within the scope of training and following Health Plans. Additionally, this position maintains health and medical documentation for the school, coordinates staff training in health areas, performs practical nursing skills as trained, and is part of the educational team for students with special education services. This position is approximately 6 hours per week but can vary based on time of year. Hourly pay starting at $25/hr. Working hours are flexible for 6 hours per week following the school calendar and beginning August 17.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
● Ensure state and federal regulation compliance with health records, practices, and policies including care plans, administration of care, state reporting, crisis response planning and training, etc.
● Oversee Health Aide paraprofessional tasks for daily and emergency care of student illness or injury
● Communicate with parents/guardians and students regarding health problems and needs with cultural competence.
● Participate in student evaluations
● Create health care plans for students with significant chronic health needs collaborating with families and agencies
● Support staff in implementing trained care for students including teaching staff appropriate medical processes and/or procedures.
● Assist in the prevention and control of communicable diseases.
● Serve as a resource to staff, parents, physicians, and hospitals.
● Maintain connections with community agencies, schools and families to provide on-going health support.
● Support wellness and health activities to improve and maintain a healthy school environment.
● Monitor students' health status during and follow up on extended medically excused absences as necessary.
● Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information (medical and personal information).
● Prepare a preliminary budget for health supplies, materials and equipment. Oversee inventory of supplies and equipment. Making recommendations toward the purchases of larger medical/office equipment.

Requirements
Experience, Education and Licensure/Certification
● Preferred: Current Minnesota State Licensure as an Licensed School Nurse
● Minimum Registered Nurse from an accredited nursing program.
● Current CPR certification (maintenance of certification while employed) / AED
● Experience with Diabetes, Allegery, and Seizure response and Health Care plan management
● Experience working with children and adolescents, staff, parents/guardians and physicians.
