Harbor City International School is seeking a compassionate, reliable, and student-centered 1:1 Special Education Paraprofessional to support an individual student with specialized learning and behavioral needs. The paraprofessional will work under the direction of a licensed special education teacher and collaborate with the student’s educational team to help implement individualized instruction, accommodations, and support strategies. Harbor City International School (harborcityschool.org) is a public charter school serving grades 7-12 in Duluth, MN. We focus on academic success and community engagement in a small, inclusive setting.


Work Schedule: April 17-May 27 8am-3:30pm

● Provide one-on-one support to a student with special education needs throughout the school day
● Assist in implementing the student’s Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals
● Support academic engagement using modified materials, guided notes, and assistive technology as needed
● Help the student develop and use coping, self-regulation, and social skills
● Monitor and document student progress and behavior; assisting in following through with positive learning and behavioral intervention plans
● Assist with transitions, organization, and task completion
● Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and related service providers
● Maintain confidentiality and follow all district policies and procedures
● Complete record keeping duties associated with data collection and third party billing.
● Desired qualities: Effective use of neuro-affirming language and practices; calm, consistent, personable; able to predict, adapt and respond to student needs.

● Position starting April 27 until May 27, potential for renewal for 2026/27 school year.
● Daily rate: $175

● High school diploma required plus 2 years college, AA degree or equivalent OR taking the ParaPro assessment with passing score.
● Pass a background check.
