Education Technology Coordinator - Hourly position begins June 1, 2024

Harbor City International School is looking for candidates to fill the position of Education Technology Coordinator. This position ensures an excellent technology experience for students, teachers, and staff. The Education Technology Coordinator is flexible, highly organized and has a natural aptitude for learning new technologies.

About Us

Harbor City International School is a college preparatory, public high school. We are a small community whose mission is to nurture a sense of belonging, insist upon academic excellence, and graduate global citizens who eagerly pursue knowledge and enrich their communities. We are located in downtown Duluth, MN and serve approximately 200 students in grades 9-12.

The Education Technology Coordinator will do the following:

Information Technology Support

  • Provide proactive technology support with a sense of urgency as needed
  • Conduct staff professional development and proactively research new training opportunities
  • Create technical training documentation and media for school digital tools
  • Maintain technology vendor relationships to effectively escalate issues, monitor product changes and coordinate overall utilization

Hardware Management

  • Facilitate the ongoing management of Apple, Google and Windows devices in a K-12 setting
  • Manage and coordinate the continued operations of the physical security system, phone equipment, wireless network and all other audio / visual devices throughout the school
  • Account for all school technology assets in an inventory database
  • Coordinate annual technology procurement and device refreshment cycles

Software Management

  • Lead all logistics related to digital platform implementations including facilitating rosters and coordinating licensing requirements.
  • Manage productivity platforms including PowerSchool and Google Workspace
  • Support administration of formative assessment platforms during student testing windows

Planning & Communication

  • Work with school administrative assistant to ensure school completes effective data reporting from PowerSchool while helping maintain school records in compliance with Data Privacy laws
  • Collaborate with school leadership to help meet digital learning objectives
  • Lead the HCIS Technology Team which may include teachers, staff and other school stakeholders
  • Track ongoing subscription and licensing costs for all technology resources

Assist the Director

  • Complete tasks as assigned to meet the needs of the school

Qualifications Required

  • High school graduate
  • Technology support experience
  • Able to use and learn technical programs and data entry procedures
  • Organized, effective and efficient in work processes
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Reliable attendance and work quality

Preferred

  • AA, BS or BA in information technology, computer science or related fields.
  • Familiar with the education industry and K-12 school operations
  • Experience managing databases and importing / exporting data sets
  • Experience coordinating wireless networks that host mobile devices
  • Experience supporting audio / visual equipment including during live events
  • Basic IT certifications a plus: CompTIA A+, Google, Microsoft, Apple, etc.
